The biggest thing that sets First Step Coding apart is its dedication to helping beginners learn to code. Are you new to coding? No problem! First Step Coding wants to help aspiring programmers take their first steps towards mastering technology. With courses offered across the United States, First Step Coding designed its curriculum to train new coders from all walks of life. Additionally, First Step Coding doesn’t consider itself to be a coding bootcamp. Instead, First Step Coding prepares students to enroll in a full-length bootcamp after graduation.
There are currently two courses of study offered at the Boston campus. The introductory course offers students the opportunity to learn some of the basics of coding. The course covers programming languages, data concepts, and a variety of operating systems. The eight-week advanced program covers many of the same concepts to prepare students for a coding bootcamp. The eight-week program also helps students apply to coding bootcamps.
As referenced before, First Step Coding offers both online and in-person training. Both of these courses hold classes twice per week for three hours in the evenings. The courses at First Step Coding are offered for either four weeks or eight weeks at a time. ‘Self-paced’ courses are also available as a flexible alternative.
It’s important to note that First Step Coding doesn’t self-identify as a coding bootcamp. For this reason, they don’t work to employ students after graduation. They do offer a variety of opportunities for those looking to expand their coding education by attending an actual coding bootcamp. The school has a variety of coding bootcamp partnerships with major institutions across the globe.
It’s important to note that program prices vary between courses and locations. The courses offered at the Boston campus range from $1,999 to $2,499. These courses are also offered online at a discount for $1,499 and $1,999. If students elect to attend a partner bootcamp after graduation, they will also receive a $1,500 scholarship to be used for that institution’s tuition.
